Parents & Guardians
We want to make the process of your child doing a school with us as smooth as possible, especially for you, parents & guardians! Here’s some tips and tools you may find helpful:
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We consider it an honor and privilege to host your child as a student at our campus during their training school. Thank you for entrusting our community as we welcome them into our family for this season of their lives. Our commitment is to provide a safe environment for them to learn and grow in their relationship with God. We are an international community, multi-generational, and represent different cultures. Your student will have the opportunity to engage in bi-lingual classes with teachers from around the world, who will teach from the word of God and help them apply the teaching in their own life. Each student takes personal responsibility to attend and participate in classes. They will also be serving in our local ministries and connect with local Mazatlan families. We encourage students to communicate with their parents and supporters to update them throughout the school. Should you have any questions about our program, please don’t hesitate to contact us at training@ywammazatlan.com.
Sincerely grateful,
Yeligrec Garcia

FAQ
Is Mazatlan safe?
Mexico in the media has been pinned as a dangerous place, but put all those “I’ve heard’s…” to rest. Our city is a beautiful city to live in. The people are warm and friendly and willing to try out their English. Our beaches are generally safe for swimming and surfing. We will help get you acquainted to the city, the beaches and the Mexican culture.
Yes, like all countries, there is brokenness, hurting people, and corruption in Mexico. God has called us to be bearers of light and hope, to be a part of Him redeeming Mexico, one story and family at a time. Our campus is located in a perfect spot where we can reach places that God has called us to go to, but also host students from all over the world and have an incredible place to do that without jeopardizing safety.
We live in a middle-class neighborhood located directly on the boardwalk of the city, which is one of many places that are safe. Just like any other city in the world, there is wisdom to how we live here, and that doesn't change wherever you are. Our campus is a closed-to-the-public building, and only students and staff live there!
Because of our community-style culture, we're always doing things together. Ministry, going out for tacos at night, walks to coffee shops. We have set curfews at night, and a security guard that takes care of our campus at night.
What happens if my child gets sick?
Our Campus does have doctors and nurses on staff with us to be able to examine your child’s condition. Depending on the treatment needed, there are local hospitals that your child can go to, and will be accompanied by campus staff as they receive care!
What does the campus look like?

How can I get a hold of my child?
We have Wifi at the campus that works well. If students want to have cell coverage everywhere they go, they are welcome to call their current provider about extending coverage to Mexico or getting a data plan here that the staff can help set up. Most students tend to use Skype/Facetime/Facebook Messenger to keep in touch with family and friends, which can all be used off of Wifi.
How much money does my child need?
Depending on your child’s spending habits, plan on $20 USD a week to cover toiletries, snacks and extra food, and other unexpected expenses that are not covered by their program’s tuition.
What’s supplied in my child’s room?
In their dorm-style rooms are bunk beds, mattresses, a shared bathroom, and a limited selection of personal storage space. Each student will need to provide their own bedding for the duration of the school. They can either bring these things with them, or purchase them at a store here! The first days of the school are arrival days, and there are many trips to nearby stores to pick up whatever they might need to get situated in their room! Pillows especially- feel free to buy them here.
What about laundry?
Your child can use one of the local laundry mats, “lavanderias”, that will wash, dry, and fold their laundry for roughly $1.50 USD per kilo. There are also a few staff who offer laundry service as well, drop off and pick up service to support their finances to be here!
If you would like to help your church grow in love for God and involvement in the Great Commission, YWAM Mazatlan can help you.
YWAM provides full-service outreaches for your youth and adult groups, kids programs, and many discipleship resources.
Outreach Trips for Your Youth Group
Our campus provides full-service outreach trips for youth groups. Our experienced staff will take care of all the details of your trip. We cover all the bases—food, housing, transportation, ministry planning, translation, supplies and everything else so your youth group leader can actually be a pastor instead of an administrator. You show up with your youth. We’ll handle the rest.
Outreach Trips for Adult Groups
If you have an adult group or a team that includes people of various ages, YWAM’s Mission Builder program can provide you a tangible way to serve God together. Our campus has many opportunities to serve with us for a short time!
Programs for Children
Our King’s Kids program seeks to lead children, youth and families worldwide into a proven knowledge of God, bring God joy and together make God known to all peoples. The ministry provides church-based discipleship groups for children and outreaches in the local community. A main emphasis of the program is on the discipleship of each young person in the team.
