YWAM Mazatlan

Its hard to believe that its the end of September. A year ago we were working hard to pack up our house in Texas and say good bye to our church family, co-workers, and friends. Then we spent over 80 hours driving all over the USA and eventually down to Mazatlan.

Since leaving Texas a year ago so many things have happened. We moved into a house in Mazatlan and started working with YWAM Mazatlan. Eddie quickly became the maintenance man at the base . Kelly took on the role of programs registrar and visiting teams coordinator. In addition she homeschooled Sandra and Juliette all year long.

During the year we've spent a lot of time getting to know our co-workers with YWAM and getting to know the city of Mazatlan. Its been a journey and we've had good days and bad days, but through it all God has given us a deep love for the people who make up YWAM Mazatlan and the citizens of Mexico. We are so happy to be here!

In March our third son Isaac got married to an amazing youg woman, Areyzika Beltran. They've been married 6 months already! We are blessed that they live 5 minutes from us and serve with us at the base.

In June Sandra graduated from high school. We are so proud of her and all she accomplished. Since June she has been living in Phoneix with friends. She is working and saving up so she can do a DTS school with YWAM in Pismo Beach.
Juliette and Sandra both worked this year at the Looney Bean Coffee shop. Juliette is looking forward to returning to work when Looney Bean re-opens in November. She continues to do school at home.

In April we added a new member to our family. His name is Bruiser and he's now a 7 month old male Pug. He makes us all laugh with his funny personality and quirky habits.

June and July were busy months with teams and house builds. In August we went to the states for 2 weeks. It was awesome to visit our church in Texas and our friends in Phoenix. Juliette had fun with her friends in California for 3 weeks.

As we look forward to our second year in Mazatlan we are excited to see what God has planned. Kelly is looking forward to helping get a prayer and intercession room established and going at the base. She is also excited about more opportunities to teach and get involved in the community. Eddie has big plans for the ywam base building and is excited about the HOH builds coming up.

Thanks for being a part of all God has done in us and through us in our short time in Mazatlan. We couldn't be here doing what we do without you. We love you all!

Summer Teams 2010!

Well, this summer has been pretty busy! So far, we have already had two teams...one team from Melbourne, Florida and another team from Indianapolis, Indiana. The first team was from Melbourne Calvary Chapel, which happens to be the Heather Madsen's home church. Their fearless leaders Julio and Mike, brought a new group of Middle Schoolers to Mazatlan, Mexico to minister in the colonias and do some evangelism at the Dolphins/ Flagpole area. What an amazing group of young people they were! All

Building Strong Foundations...

The coffee and cookies were served, people were seated, and as the call for sharing homework was made, shy whisperings and laughter were heard around the room. It was the third week of meeting together with the married couples of Colonia Sinaloa. Each week the co…

Hope for Haiti

In light of everything that has been going on in Haiti after the earthquake, Haiti has truly been on our hearts. After the hurricanes there in 2008, we sent an outreach team to work with the YWAM bases in the country. They had the opportunity to serve the YWAMers and Haitian people, help with hurricane relief work, and make lasting connections with the people of Haiti. Then, in the May of 2009, we received an outreach team from YWAM Haiti St. Marc that stayed with us for a few weeks. They shared…

Carnaval 2010!

Well, Carnaval is just around the corner and we are getting pumped for another year of celebrating God's love by reaching out to all the party-goers of Mazatlan's annual Carnaval. The festival begins on February 11th and ends on the 16th. There is a lot to plan, so we will keep you posted as it all unfolds. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the event.

Mexico City Outreach

The outreach team in Mexico City has been busy reaching out to the masses in bold and relevant ways. They have seen God's hand at work through the joining of churches uniting together to reach out to the people of their city and they have had the chance to help the Haitian embassy in Mexico after the earthquake in Haiti. They have had opportunities to work in two different high schools where they have been able to go into the classrooms and share all about God and the importance of knowing Him.…
