Why Remnant? Jeremiah 23:3-4 talks about calling the lost, the remnant, back to God and raising up leaders who will watch over them and care for them so they can be fearless and fruitful. This cutting edge ministry focuses on reaching and disciplining the skate culture of Mazatlan. We want these young men and women who are otherwise ignored, hassled, and even rejected by society, and even at times the church, that we love and care for them.
John 13:35 "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." We know that love cannot just be about words, but has to be expressed in our actions and commitment. As the Remnant team, we try to connect with the local skaters through setting up a mobile skate park once a week, running skate competitions throughout the year with cool prizes for the winners, and leading a skate camp at least once a year where some of the skaters can tour around and skate in different places in Mexico. We have seen as many as 75 guys come to skate and hang out with us in a single day. The relationships formed through Remnant are strong and many young skaters have received Christ as their savior. We have also begun to put on a weekly Bible study night to further disciple the young skaters, to encourage them to learn more about the plan God has for their lives, and to bridge the gap between them and the local church.
The Remnant team has become a vital link for this often-misunderstood group of young people.
There is nothing like this in all of Mazatlan, a safe place where these skaters can come and have fun, learn new tricks, be loved on and encouraged, and hopefully see the love of God in the process!!! Come and check us out!! For more information,
