About Me
I am South African born and bred, and nothing will ever change that! I was brought up in Natal in Hillcrest, but spent loads of time in Durban and on the beach. I love the beach!! I moved to the United Kingdom about 6 years ago with my family; and I am proud to say that I am now English/South African as I have dual citizenship :-).
I am a christian, and was raised in an amazing christian home. I go to an amazing church (Renewal Christian Centre) which has the most amazing people and the most amazing youth! You guys are awesome!! I love living my life for God and knowing that He is in charge of absolutely everything.
I am happiest when being myself, with my friends and people I like (you know who you are!!), doing something active (I can't not do anything), going to church and youth, and when the sun is shining.
Some of my passions are clay pigeon shooting (there is nothing like the feeling of knowing how to handle the gun, holding the gun, and the satisfying feeling of getting the clays), horses, and acting. I am so lucky in that I have an amazing mother who is a drama/voice coach, and so I have grown up with acting. There is a part of me that comes alive when I am acting or when I see a brilliant piece of theatre!
I have an incredibly supportive and amazing family, whom I love very much; and being away from them has only shown me just how much I love them.
I am pretty quiet if I don't know someone, but once I get to know people I can be really random and hyper!
I am incredibly determined and will always strive for the best and do the best that I can do - if I don't feel that I have done well enough I will always come down hard on myself. I am competitive. I am loyal. Anything else you wanna know, just ask!

I did my DTS here at YWAM Maz, and then stayed on for an extra month to help with Homes of Hope. Those 7 months of my life was the most incredible thing ever. God changed me so much, and opened my eyes to so many things. Since having returned home, I know that the next step for me is to go back to school where I will be studying paramedics. I am looking forward to it, as I know that it is where God wants me, as He clearly pointed out! I am so disappointed not to be returning to Maz as soon as I had hoped, but know that God will take me back there someday. I would love to go back and work with HoH, but I know that everything is done in His timing, and that He has it under control!!!

Goodbye sweet Chloe.

This is unreal. This feels like a bad dream. I just can't get my head around this. Sometimes I am fine, and then it hits and I remember that she is gone.

Encounter

I have encountered God.
I have seen his face and have felt the Spirit come upon in such ways that can only be divine.
I have seen God for real. I have felt Him place his hand on my heart.
And all I can do is wait, with a quiet hunger that drives pains to my innermost being.
I can do no more than fall to my knees and let my heart break, let the tears come and allow my heart to sob for the desires that God has placed in it.

An encounter comes from within. It comes from wanting Him to become real,… Continue

The Soldier's Prayer

Here I am before you, lowly in your presence. Who am I that I should stand and look you in the eye? Who am I to talk to you on a personel level, to tell you my fears and ideas?
I am nothing. I am worthless. I am full of sin, I have a black slate.
I cannot be near you; the ugly and the beautiful do not mix.
Yet I so long for your approval, you Father's touch.
But how could you look at me? I am not much.
I am proud and boastful, I hold my head high; but I beg of you my leader, my prince, my perfec… Continue

Summer Teams 2010!

Well, this summer has been pretty busy! So far, we have already had two teams...one team from Melbourne, Florida and another team from Indianapolis, Indiana. The first team was from Melbourne Calvary Chapel, which happens to be the Heather Madsen's home church. Their fearless leaders Julio and Mike, brought a new group of Middle Schoolers to Mazatlan, Mexico to minister in the colonias and do some evangelism at the Dolphins/ Flagpole area. What an amazing group of young people they were! All

Building Strong Foundations...

The coffee and cookies were served, people were seated, and as the call for sharing homework was made, shy whisperings and laughter were heard around the room. It was the third week of meeting together with the married couples of Colonia Sinaloa. Each week the co…

Hope for Haiti

In light of everything that has been going on in Haiti after the earthquake, Haiti has truly been on our hearts. After the hurricanes there in 2008, we sent an outreach team to work with the YWAM bases in the country. They had the opportunity to serve the YWAMers and Haitian people, help with hurricane relief work, and make lasting connections with the people of Haiti. Then, in the May of 2009, we received an outreach team from YWAM Haiti St. Marc that stayed with us for a few weeks. They shared…

Carnaval 2010!

Well, Carnaval is just around the corner and we are getting pumped for another year of celebrating God's love by reaching out to all the party-goers of Mazatlan's annual Carnaval. The festival begins on February 11th and ends on the 16th. There is a lot to plan, so we will keep you posted as it all unfolds. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the event.

Mexico City Outreach

The outreach team in Mexico City has been busy reaching out to the masses in bold and relevant ways. They have seen God's hand at work through the joining of churches uniting together to reach out to the people of their city and they have had the chance to help the Haitian embassy in Mexico after the earthquake in Haiti. They have had opportunities to work in two different high schools where they have been able to go into the classrooms and share all about God and the importance of knowing Him.…
