Here we believe in a 24/7, live-learn environment. That's why you'll find a tight community of staff and students. Learning isn't confined to the classroom; in fact, we bring it out and teach you how to apply it to everyday life.
You'll spend 12 weeks in Mazatlan in a classroom type setting. This, however, is no ordinary classroom. The curriculum provides opportunity for different topics to be covered each week. We will take you through some of the basics like, Hearing the Voice of the Lord, Character and Nature of God and what it means to have the Fear of the Lord in your life.
Then we dive into the deeper stuff and get down to core teachings like, The Father Heart of God, Worship/Intercession/Spiritual Warfare, the Holy Spirit, the Person of Jesus, the Work of the Cross-Grace and Forgiveness.
Towards the end of the Lecture Phase we'll start to prepare you for Outreach. We'll cover topics like Evangelism 101, a right Biblical Worldview and Missions.
Our speakers come from all over the world to share with you their wisdom, their experience and their passion for God. Our speakers are relational making themselves available to you after lectures, during their free time, for one-on-one meetings and/or ministry should you want it.
As a DTS student you will be integrated into our YWAM base during your Lecture Phase. This means you will participate in our weekly all-base events such as Worship & Intercession and our local Outreaches. These are fun times, as you will get to know many of the other Staff on base.
During Lecture Phase you will be assigned a daily work duty on the base, such as working in the kitchen, cleaning, helping with maintenance, etc. We believe that true discipleship is learned through serving and being faithful in the things entrusted to you, so part of the DTS focuses on teaching you these lessons. Like we said, training's not limited to the classroom!!
You will also be on a Weekend Duty rotation with the staff, where you will be in a team to keep the base running on the weekends. Depending on the number of people on the base, you will be on one weekend day every 3-6 weeks.
The simplest definition of a YWAM Outreach: 12 weeks of cross-cultural living, doing all different types of Evangelism and Mercy ministry. Let's add a dash of reality and tell you what it really is.
We live and work in Mexico, so therefore we will always offer a Mexican outreach. You will get to see and experience different places all over Mexico. We will take you to remote villages in mountainous regions as well as to huge, mega-cities like that of Mexico City and Guadalajara.
Beyond Mexico, the world is our oyster. Over the past couple of years God has directed our base to different places in the world. We have sent teams to the Congo in Africa, Bolivia and more recently, Turkey and Egypt.
Future outreaches will include China (Asia) as well as a continued commitment to Northern Africa.
The DTS leader and their staff will wait on God for His direction concerning the outreaches. Each student is encouraged to seek God as to where they are supposed to go. Your school's outreach destinations will be announced prior to the start of your DTS or by the 3rd week of the Lecture Phase.
Both schools, September DTS and January DTS, will join with us in hosting a huge outreach that takes place just down the road from our base. We're talking about the city's annual "Carnaval" and we're talking about 1 million people on our doorstep!
YWAM and church teams from overseas, together with Mexican teams and the local church, will gather here to prepare and strategize for the week long fiesta. Evangelism is what it's all about and we've learned there are many ways to do it! Be prepared. This is a city-wide outreach with amazing results!
You will have spent the last 12 weeks in lectures, getting real with God, praying awesome prayers like, "God use me," and waiting for Him to do it. Outreach will be your chance to see God answer those prayers. It's your chance to find out what you're made of.
Our aim is to provide you with a well-rounded Outreach. You'll be asked to prepare your testimony as well as a sermon or a topic that you can teach on. That's right, outreach is all about you and your teammates taking the lead! We won't leave you hanging though, your outreach leaders will be there to help and give input along the way. Besides sharing, preaching and teaching you will do community work that might involve building, painting, removing rocks and clearing land, working with medical clinics, playing endless games of soccer/football with the local kids or doing one-on-one evangelism.
The point is: you'll be stretched AND you'll be inspired. You'll come back knowing you gave 110% of yourself and God, well, He always did so much more!
Remember we said that your learning wouldn't be confined to a classroom? Come and see for yourself what makes us unique!

Welcome to
YWAM Mazatlan
Well, this summer has been pretty busy! So far, we have already had two teams...one team from Melbourne, Florida and another team from Indianapolis, Indiana. The first team was from Melbourne Calvary Chapel, which happens to be the Heather Madsen's home church. Their fearless leaders Julio and Mike, brought a new group of Middle Schoolers to Mazatlan, Mexico to minister in the colonias and do some evangelism at the Dolphins/ Flagpole area. What an amazing group of young people they were! All
