Semana Santa or Spring Break falls just after the 40 days of Lent and is Mazatlan's final celebration before Easter. The local beaches are jam packed with a mixture of Mexican families on vacation and up to 100,000 North American students hoping to indulge in México's ultimate party scene. Similar to the Carnaval outreach, YWAM Mazatlan's main focus is on sharing the love of God in relevant ways. During the day, teams hit the beach ready to play sports and interact with the young people, while at night, a free cafe is set up in the heart of the party zone offering a refuge to the masses.
Much like that of Carnaval, weeks before, YWAM Mazatlan spends time praying and seeking God for the weeklong invasion. The focus is evangelism and the message is clear; only God can satisfy. With an audience so spiritually hungry, YWAM Mazatlan feeds their needs in fresh and creative ways. The beaches provide the perfect opportunity to connect with the partygoers and families on vacation. From volleyball matches to giving away drinks and hotdogs, the YWAM teams build relationships through friendship evangelism. By the end of each day, the sun-kissed crew packs up ready to venture into the heart of the city's official nighttime party zone. Like a river flowing down the middle of the street, is the crowd of young people out on the town.

What an amazing group of young people they were! All
