YWAM Mazatlan

Increasing Goals

Our vision is that by 2012 our center will make a significant impact on the local and international community by:

  • Building 300 new homes for impoverished Mazatlan families in five targeted communities
  • Increasing training by 45% through increased student capacity
  • Increasing Mexican participation by training 250 Mexicans through training schools and mission opportunities
  • Retaining 75 Mexican missionaries; ten serving overseas
  • Develop and maintain solid domestic and international partnerships with churches, private business, and government agencies.
  • Establish new ministry centers in Mexico City and North Africa

Need for Campaign

With the growing vision in areas of training and programs, the need to find a permanent, larger location emerged. Over the past few years, YWAM Mazatlan had positive discussions with the landlord about purchasing the original rental property. However, in 2008, the landlord informed the base of their intentions to instead renovate the property and not to sell. Additionally, the landlord indicated that Ywam Mazatlan must vacate in August of 2008. This sudden change of direction became an opportunity to look at other options sooner, rather than later. The need for a Capital Campaign was apparent.

After looking at several prospects, one property emerged full of potential. A hotel building known as Hotel Vidalmar, located just around the corner from the current base, was identified. With the ability to accommodate 300 people, this new facility meets the needs of the rapid growth and development of the YWAM's ministries to help Mazatlan's poor as well as train and release young people into the nations. After several discussions and negotiations with the hotel owner, YWAM Mazatlan agreed to a purchase price and in June of 2008, an offer for purchase was made and accepted and in September of 2008, the base moved into its new home.

Campaign Purpose (all monetary figures are in USD)

The $3.5million goal is phased into several areas. They are:

  • $1 million to purchase the new property
  • $1.5 million for property improvements and re-modeling
  • $500,000 for property furnishings and interior elements
  • $300,000 to enhance annual operating costs
  • $200,000 for sustainable endowment

Their fearless leaders Julio and Mike, brought a new group of Middle Schoolers to Mazatlan, Mexico to minister in the colonias and do some evangelism at the Dolphins/ Flagpole area. What an amazing group of young people they were! All

Building Strong Foundations...

The coffee and cookies were served, people were seated, and as the call for sharing homework was made, shy whisperings and laughter were heard around the room. It was the third week of meeting together with the married couples of Colonia Sinaloa. Each week the co…

Hope for Haiti

In light of everything that has been going on in Haiti after the earthquake, Haiti has truly been on our hearts. After the hurricanes there in 2008, we sent an outreach team to work with the YWAM bases in the country. They had the opportunity to serve the YWAMers and Haitian people, help with hurricane relief work, and make lasting connections with the people of Haiti. Then, in the May of 2009, we received an outreach team from YWAM Haiti St. Marc that stayed with us for a few weeks. They shared…

The festival begins on February 11th and ends on the 16th. There is a lot to plan, so we will keep you posted as it all unfolds. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the event.

Mexico City Outreach

The outreach team in Mexico City has been busy reaching out to the masses in bold and relevant ways. They have seen God's hand at work through the joining of churches uniting together to reach out to the people of their city and they have had the chance to help the Haitian embassy in Mexico after the earthquake in Haiti. They have had opportunities to work in two different high schools where they have been able to go into the classrooms and share all about God and the importance of knowing Him.…
