YWAM Mazatlan

Faith Wall

Here's our Faith Wall for things that we're praying for that aren't in our operating budget. Since most of our staff and students live by faith for everything (from the big money for staff fees or outreach to the daily necessities like tacos or sandals), it seems only natural to have a "faith wall" declaring the things we're asking for and rejoicing in the things we've seen Him provide!! We invite you to rejoice with us and hope that your faith is encouraged through reading this page!!

Praise Report!

Water Purifier - Still needs funding - We've installed a water purifier for eating and drinking on the base. Before we needed to use bottled water, which was costly and occasionally unreliable.
Public Bathrooms - Under Construction! - Our visitor/public bathrooms used to be a mess. They weren't pleasant to use and didn't always work, which was a horrible first-impression for visitors and even the staff and students cringed when they needed to use them.
Re-facing the Base - Under Construction! - The home church of two of our Canadian staff members is funding this project to reface and paint the entire outside of the base. The walls were cracking and the paint was peeling off in large chunks (sometimes taking part of the wall with it), so it desperately needed to be refaced. There's nothing quite like chunks of cement randomly falling three or four stories onto a busy walkway to liven up your day!
Remodel Backyard - One of our staff members and his family took this on as their personal project and fixed up the empty space at the back of our property. With a little TLC the formerly has been transformed into a beautiful place to sit and pray or to hold classes and base community events like worship and intercession.
Hangout Area - The January DTS raised money and transformed the breezeway into a cozy hangout area. They put up walls and enclosed the space, painted, and put new lights in. Its such an improvement!! Now it just needs some furnishings to finish it off.
Hot Water - Before last January, there was no hot water on the base for showers or washing dishes. This was very hard for visiting speakers and guests, not to mention the staff and students who live here during the winter months. We'll never take hot water for granted again!
Media Computer - We desperately needed a computer for media projects, as we only had one personal computer with the software needed, which severely limited what we could do. Now we have a beautiful new Mac with a massive screen and some amazing video software on it!
Truck - We needed a truck to transport building materials for Homes of Hope and base renovations and were able to purchase one last month.
YWAM Sign for Base - For the first five months in our new property, there was nothing to indicate that our building is YWAM. Now we have a great sign to increase our profile in the community as well as make it easier for visitors to find us.We've already seen more people dropping in that didn't know we were here before.
Skate Ramps - We had a team come down to build ramps at the end of March and we saw a lot of support come in for our skate ministry, as well as promotional gear.

Still Believing For:

* Guest Speaker Bathrooms - The bathrooms in the guest rooms rarely work properly which is challenging for our visiting speakers. $3,000.00 USD
* All Bathrooms - Truthfully, none of the bathrooms work very well here and our maintenance guys are always busy trying to keep at least some of the toilets in working order at any given time. We really need the whole system redone... $10,000.00 USD
12-15 Passenger Van - We've been borrowing a van for the last couple of months, but we really need to buy two more vans to transport the growing number of people coming through our base. $15,000.00 USD
Small Car - Could really use a gas efficient vehicle for running small errands instead of taking the big vans.
* Graphic Design Software - We really need the right software to do our own promotional materials and flyers. The base doesn't have any design software at the moment and we're relying on a couple personal computers, which really limits what we can get done and who can do it. We have people willing to work, just don't have the programs!! $1,500 - 2,400 USD
* Stuff for Hangout Area - We now have an amazing hangout area, which is so awesome because there wasn't a comfortable, warm place for people to hangout. We really want to be a relational base, so that was essential! It still needs some stuff though. We need couches, TV, DVD player, coffee maker, espresso machine, public computers, etc. If you'd like to contribute one of these items we would really appreciate it! $5,000.00 USD
Base Computers 5x - We need at least five computers for office. $600.00 USD
Multi-layer DVD Burner - Media department needs something for producing larger numbers of promotional DVDs in a short time frame. Right now we’re burning them individually on a personal computer. $700.00 USD

* biggest priority

Summer Teams 2010!

Well, this summer has been pretty busy! So far, we have already had two teams...one team from Melbourne, Florida and another team from Indianapolis, Indiana. The first team was from Melbourne Calvary Chapel, which happens to be the Heather Madsen's home church. Their fearless leaders Julio and Mike, brought a new group of Middle Schoolers to Mazatlan, Mexico to minister in the colonias and do some evangelism at the Dolphins/ Flagpole area. What an amazing group of young people they were! All

Building Strong Foundations...

The coffee and cookies were served, people were seated, and as the call for sharing homework was made, shy whisperings and laughter were heard around the room. It was the third week of meeting together with the married couples of Colonia Sinaloa. Each week the co…

Hope for Haiti

In light of everything that has been going on in Haiti after the earthquake, Haiti has truly been on our hearts. After the hurricanes there in 2008, we sent an outreach team to work with the YWAM bases in the country. They had the opportunity to serve the YWAMers and Haitian people, help with hurricane relief work, and make lasting connections with the people of Haiti. Then, in the May of 2009, we received an outreach team from YWAM Haiti St. Marc that stayed with us for a few weeks. They shared…

Carnaval 2010!

Well, Carnaval is just around the corner and we are getting pumped for another year of celebrating God's love by reaching out to all the party-goers of Mazatlan's annual Carnaval. The festival begins on February 11th and ends on the 16th. There is a lot to plan, so we will keep you posted as it all unfolds. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the event.

Mexico City Outreach

The outreach team in Mexico City has been busy reaching out to the masses in bold and relevant ways. They have seen God's hand at work through the joining of churches uniting together to reach out to the people of their city and they have had the chance to help the Haitian embassy in Mexico after the earthquake in Haiti. They have had opportunities to work in two different high schools where they have been able to go into the classrooms and share all about God and the importance of knowing Him.…
