Linking Profile Pages Between the Spanish and English Websites

Linking Blogs

Ok, to start with, go to your main profile page (the one where you actually write your blog posts or upload pictures on, not the one you're linking to). Scroll down the page to your blog box and click “View All.” This will take you to a page that shows all your blog posts. At the very bottom left you will see a little square black RSS Feed icon. Click on it.

This will take you to a page that says something about “subscribing to this feed…”. Ignore everything on the page and just copy the page address located at the top of your browser in your address bar. It should look something like this:
http://www.ywammazatlan.com/profiles/blog/feed?user=oehdeferkc5j&am...

Ok, now go to the other website (Spanish if you were previously on the English one or vice versa) and sign into your profile page there. (If you haven’t set up your profile on this website yet, go to your email and follow the invitation that was sent to you there to set up your profile.) Once you’re on your profile page and have a custom theme set up (follow link in the My Page dropdown menu), scroll down your page until you see a box with the title RSS. Click the Edit button next to it. Change the Title from RSS to Blog, paste the previously copied address from your other profile into the URL line. Make sure Display is set to Detail View and you can choose how many items are displayed. Then click Save and within a couple of minutes you should see your blog posts from your other profile show up in this box under the title Blog (that’s assuming you actually have some blog posts on your other profile. If not, get working on it!!).

On another note, leave the actual Blog section of this profile empty. You’ll see the empty box when you’re signed in, but no one else will see it so it will look like your linked blog posts were originally on there. If people click on the blog captions to read more it will open a new browser tab and take them directly to the original blog page so they can read the full message.

Linking Photos

Linking uploaded photos is similar to linking blogs, but uses a slightly different method. Go to the My Photos box on your main profile page. If it’s set to Slideshow mode (found by clicking the Edit button and selecting Display: Slideshow), roll your mouse over the bottom of the pictures and the controls should pop up. There will be a little person icon (see pic below) on the right hand side that allows you to Share. If you click it, you will see some embed code. Click Copy. (you can close that box after).

Then go to the other website (Spanish if you were previously on the English one or vice versa) and sign into your profile page there. As per instructions above, if you haven’t set up your profile on this website yet, go to your email and follow the invitation that was sent to you there to set up your profile.) Once you’re on your profile page and have a custom theme set up (follow link in the My Page dropdown menu), scroll down your page until you see a box with the title Textbox. Click the Edit button next to it.

A typical text edit box will open up with a title and main text section. You can either leave the title blank or call it My Pictures or something. Then in the main text section paste the previously copied embed code and click Save. The box should quickly begin displaying a slideshow of your photos that looks identical to the one on your main page. As with the blogs, leave the actual My Photos box empty. Only you can see it when you’re signed in.

Summer Teams 2010!

Well, this summer has been pretty busy! So far, we have already had two teams...one team from Melbourne, Florida and another team from Indianapolis, Indiana. The first team was from Melbourne Calvary Chapel, which happens to be the Heather Madsen's home church. Their fearless leaders Julio and Mike, brought a new group of Middle Schoolers to Mazatlan, Mexico to minister in the colonias and do some evangelism at the Dolphins/ Flagpole area. What an amazing group of young people they were! All

Building Strong Foundations...

The coffee and cookies were served, people were seated, and as the call for sharing homework was made, shy whisperings and laughter were heard around the room. It was the third week of meeting together with the married couples of Colonia Sinaloa. Each week the co…

Hope for Haiti

In light of everything that has been going on in Haiti after the earthquake, Haiti has truly been on our hearts. After the hurricanes there in 2008, we sent an outreach team to work with the YWAM bases in the country. They had the opportunity to serve the YWAMers and Haitian people, help with hurricane relief work, and make lasting connections with the people of Haiti. Then, in the May of 2009, we received an outreach team from YWAM Haiti St. Marc that stayed with us for a few weeks. They shared…

Carnaval 2010!

Well, Carnaval is just around the corner and we are getting pumped for another year of celebrating God's love by reaching out to all the party-goers of Mazatlan's annual Carnaval. The festival begins on February 11th and ends on the 16th. There is a lot to plan, so we will keep you posted as it all unfolds. Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the event.

Mexico City Outreach

The outreach team in Mexico City has been busy reaching out to the masses in bold and relevant ways. They have seen God's hand at work through the joining of churches uniting together to reach out to the people of their city and they have had the chance to help the Haitian embassy in Mexico after the earthquake in Haiti. They have had opportunities to work in two different high schools where they have been able to go into the classrooms and share all about God and the importance of knowing Him.…
